Officially launched at the Loughborough conference, StreetGames has developed a new 3 hour training workshop in partnership with England Athletics. The new ‘Community Athletics Activators’ workshop comes with a high quality resource pack including glossy cards on how to deliver StreetGames style athletics. All participants on the course also receive a certificate of attendance. StreetGames has also teamed up with Ultimate Frisbee to promote their Leaders Award. Again this is a 3 hour workshop to provide a basic introduction to Ultimate Frisbee. People attending the workshop get a resource pack including a DVD of the sport.

Following the success of the first two Young Leaders Camps, held in 2008 and 2009, UKA are again working with England Netball and Gymnastics England to offer one hundred and fifty 16-19 year olds the opportunity to attend a four day residential camp, where they will get the chance to develop their leadership and volunteering skills alongside like minded individuals.

For those of you who remember the previous YLC events, you will remember that the event has grown to be an integral part of our youth volunteering and leadership programme, with 90 athletics leaders having benefitted from the experience over the last two years.

What is the Leaders Camp?

Salary: £21,519 pro rata

Funded by England Athletics we are seeking to recruit a Network Officer who will be responsible for assisting the Oxfordshire Athletics Association in continuing the delivery and development of the successful Athletics programme

Under the supervision of the OAA management group responsibilities will include

Delivering and keeping up to date the Network’s overall Action Plan and budget. To focus on the priority areas as set by the Network’s Management Group.

The Muscular Dystrophy ‘Oxfordshire Club of the Year’ Trophy.
The Oxford Town & Gown 10K, organized on behalf of Muscular Dystrophy, has been a prominent feature of the local race scene for many years. Now in its 29th year the race has helped raise almost one million pounds for the charity which has helped many local sufferers.
In addition to the invaluable support it provides for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign the race has several other claims to fame. It is by far the largest race in Oxfordshire, regularly attracting over 3000 entrants, who have an unique opportunity to run, traffic free, through the City’s streets and passed its ‘dreaming spires’. It has also maintained its original ‘fun run’ image and a large proportion of the runners still fall into that category.
